So Now What (UPDATED)? - 1/31/2008
With the release of S1B6: Child of a Dead God, which ends Series 1, many readers have asked about the future of the protagonists. We can't say anything specific and risk creating spoilers, but we'll try to clarify. Series 2 picks up one year or more later from when Series 1 left off. It is planned (at present) to comprise three books:
The second series centers around two characters you met in Series 1, plus a new and unusual third one, forming a new trio. New antagonists will appear as well, with a major one specifically. You'll meet many side characters, minor and major, in a new part of the world while exploring new cultures and peoples. And that's not all.
The saga as a whole will continue, even after Series 2. It will take many characters to uncover all pieces of the ancient mystery and the conflict that blotted out the Forgotten History.
As to the fate of protagonists (and antagonists) you know from Series 1 (those still alive) — anything can happen! Expect to meet both new and old faces throughout the saga's books and series, sometimes in unusual combinations, as multiple plot lines unfold and ultimately converge.
As to specific characters on your mind (who survived) from Series 1... Series 2 includes hints as to where they might be and what they are doing. Major players in the saga's prime conflict and plot threads (still around by the end of Series 2) will reappear to fulfill their part in the grand scheme.
That's all we can say for now, folks. More excitement is on its way!
Child on NYTBS List - 1/19/2008
S1B6: Child of a Dead God made the New York Times Bestseller List (#28 in Hardcover Fiction) in the January 27th edition.
So What's a ''Saga''? - 11/13/2007
The concept of a "series of series" (which we call a "saga" for lack of better term) is new to some. It is not the same as seperate series set in the same world but with different stories for each series. The saga's multiple series chain together — like the books in each single series — for an overall story told in books and series.
Keeping track of series/book order can be troublesome, and you won't find numbering on the books themselves. So on this site, we have adopted a simple system to indicate series and book order. For example, S1B1: Dhampir, indicates Series 1, Book 1, while S2B1: Of Shade & Shadow would be Series 2, Book 1, and so on. Simple, yes? And we hope this helps readers keep up with the saga's overall organization.
